Design thinking is not about only illustrating. It is some kind of intuitive thinking to reach the problem of a product before they arises. The corporate giants like IBM, Apple, Nike stress on design thinking from website designing to designing of their product. This concept defines Art, Science and design. Here I will cut a outline of the process of design thinking:

Empathy for the Clients :

In order to get the optimum result you must think on behalf of the customer’s eye view. As much as you will design customer oriented model you will gain success. This is called empathize with the customer. It not only enables you to understand their problem, but you can also feel their circumstances putting yourself in their shoes. We read in the history book that the great Mughal emperor Akbar often disguise himself and mingle among the masses. By this way he experience the problems which the common people faces, he observes pros and cons of his rules very closely. This method helps him to fix up the loops and holes of laws in his dynasty, as well as set up new rule. This is one type of design thinking. The emperor’s mingling among common masses is the empathy for his subjects.

Define the problem :

In this stage you will pile up the information you gathered through observation and experiencing. The analyze them to delve deep into the core of the problem. In this journey you will get tossed between things. A turmoil of why, how, which, where will make you perplexed. To smooth your journey do not pour yourself with over-knowing. Most of the time over knowing confused us, distract or biased us.

Ideate :

Ideate is the Eureka scene of this total process. In this stage you will try to find out the solution of the problem. Design thinkers go for a brainstorming to open a door of solution. If you think openly or freely without hesitating or being biased you will get more and more ideas. You need to jot down the ideas. Among them you will assimilate few and eliminate unnecessary ideas. The motto of this stage is create ideas as many as possible. At last you will come up with the best idea and think how the customer will behave with the end product.

Prototype :

When you cook for your guest, do you not taste it by yourself before serving ?  If the dish doesn’t taste properly do you not add some ingredients or spices to make it better? This is the prototype stage of this food preparation. Likewise, When the design thinkers came up with a better idea or may be the best idea, the team experiment by themselves. They notices the product by using, before introducing to the customers. If they find any deficiency they add extra feature or when the problem arises they removes the root of problem.

Test :

This part comes up with the moderate version of the model. Now the time comes to serve the food you cooked! You may wait for the guests’ reaction with palpitation of heart, right? This also happens with the design thinker when their latest model debuted in the market.

Accept Failure :

always hope for the best and prepare for the worst. May be your model captured the market. May be the customers did not like the product. Or, may be it partially successful. Do not loose hope. Try to accept your failure because every failure will open new strategy in front of you.
